When two shark attacks occurred near Jacksonville, Florida within a matter of 48 hours on Halloween weekend, it could have very well been the setup to a horror movie. I think they made one like that before.
But this was no motion picture. The reality for a surfer first on Saturday who was bit on the hand by a shark in front of Mayport Naval Station was all too real. The Surf Jax Pier Facebook page posted photos of the man’s blood hands over the weekend to remind them of the dangers of swimming in Florida waters during the fall.
“Please use caution people, especially on the inside where this attack took place,” the post stated.
The man was recovering with 17 stitches in his hand when another attack occurred the following day when a 42-year-old man was bitten on the right leg. Few details were available occur than the fact he was recovering from non-life threatening injuries, according to the Florida Times-Union.
