Just ask Paul’s wife. He was obsessed with hiking the Appalachian Trail. From his homeland in Australia, he read about it, listened to podcasts about it, and constantly talked about it. He was partially packed for the trip when, sadly, his heart gave out. After some time, his wife contacted The Dirtbag Diaries podcast to help find AT hikers who could use his boots. Their producers at Duct Tape Then Beer reached out to REI to help spread the word. Now people Paul never met are strapping his boots to their packs and hiking sections of the Appalachian Trail. It’s too bad Paul’s not here to hike the trail himself, but we think he’d be pretty pleased that his boots are inspiring so many others.
